The Palace...aka the Dog Pound

Above is the link to an album of photos of my first adventure into Budapest and my house. Oliver, Pam and I went to an outdoor market called the Christmas market. We also got to eat a cheeseburger and fries which was GREAT. Apparently it is the best hamburger you can get anywhere in Budapest. Also, the album includes pictures of my house that I think is a palace. I also call it the dog pound because we are surrounded by 4 dogs that bark incessantly. I love it…not. I also took pictures of my room pre-Whittington makeover. Pam left all the furniture and bedding in the room for me (she used to live there). I will post pictures soon of my makeover which is in progress. In fact, Oliver is putting my desk together as I’m writing this. Last night Pam “killed” a microwavable rice cooker (picture coming later) it was highly entertaining. Because of this, rice cookers are on notice (my bad list – Steven Colbert of the Colbert Report calls it “On Notice”) Rice cookers join light switches on the On Notice list. More to come. Tonight is New Year’s eve. Oliver, Pam, and I are going to Pam’s sister’s house – the Whites – for cheese and chocolate fondue. I’m excited – I’ll try to get some pictures so that all of you can see New Year’s Hungarian missionary style. It should be interesting.
Egan (the only Hungarian word I know…it means yes.) I like to say it at random times since it is all I know. So…Egan.

Where am I?

AHH! I'm here. Everything is going well. I just finished a "run" to Ikea where I purchased a desk, chair, and some odds and ends. Most importantly I bought their wonderful chocolate chip cookies!!!!!!! I will be updating more frequently once I figure out internet at my house and also in January because I will be frequently coming to the school with internet access. Tonight I went to town (Budapest) to a Christmas festival (pictures to come) which was great fun BUT cold!! It is currently -2 C which I think is around 27 degrees F. Yea...I'm freezing. I'm officially putting light switches on my list (the bad list, or something that I hate or bothers me...it's from a comedy tv show). Tonight light switches go on my list. In Hungary they are OUTSIDE of a room. In America they are on the INSIDE. Hence my confusion. I guess I could have bigger problems. More to come on my adventures in Budapest!!!

Click on the image above, I have created an album of Budapest, some of my friends thought that Budapest was in the Middle East!! It's not...

Ready or not...here I come!!! I leave for Budapest in 9 days. Wow. How did it come so fast? Please pray for traveling mercies (especially for overweight baggage) for Oliver, Pamela, and me! I will be posting pictures of my new home - with wireless internet, vonage, my own balcony, a hot pink room, and a DISHWASHER. All of these blessings come with the house (full of other girl teachers) that I'm moving into soon. I am truly blessed, I think God knows me...
